Starter Issue?

Hello,
I have a '92, 3.0L automatic with 192K miles. Replaced the starter a little over a year ago with a rebuilt one from NAPA and recently replaced the battery. Here's what's going on, when I turn the key to start about 50% of the time the starter doesn't react and I hear the clicks of the solenoid or relays, or whatever they're called. If I jump it with my other vehicle is starts right up, I checked the voltage while it was running and get around 14.6 volts. Is the "new" starter dead already? I kind of hope not, it was a royal pain to install. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Check all your connections around the starter... Whats the voltage of the battery not running? Check it in the morning (After the batt has sat for a good period of time... If its healthy it should be around 12.4-12.6v)

check to make sure your battery connections are bolted on tight and connections to starter solenoid are good. it sounds like a weak battery or bad connection at the batt since you can hear popping but not turning

Thanks, the battery connections are fine. The voltage on the battery was 12.72 this morning after sitting for ~20 hours. Is the solenoid right there on the passenger's side on the firewall? If so, then all of the connections looked good. It's snowing right now so I'll wait and check the connections on the starter itself sometime later.
