I think I ask this once before several months ago but didn't follow thru.
so here is the questions.
the starter makes the classic screaming sound after it has gotten hot from the motor running.
1.would replacing both of the contacts solve the problem???
2. should I go ahead and replace the whole starter???

I have read that replacing the contacts can solve the problem but I need several opinions please.
thanks in advance

Not sure if that's contacts related... Usually if your contacts are going you get a "clicking" noise whether hot or cold. At least that's how it happened for me. I'm no mechanic, though, so don't take my word for it. However, if you do decide to replace your contacts, look up a thread I did that should be a good walk-through on doing the job (should be in my signature too).

Sounds to me like the starter drive gear is not fully engaging the flywheel. That would make a screaming type sound when they grind. I haven't heard of bad contacts causing this.

Yes I saw your writeup about the contacts, thus the thought of just doing the contacts. ummm..... the sound, maybe not a scream but more of a screaming grind. no clicks, just a screaming grind. LOL now that you mention the drive gear, that is probably the issue.
thanks again for your help. all of it is helpful.
