starter problem

I'm having a strange starting condition. When I turn the ign key it sometimes clicks, does nothing or makes a feeble attempt to turn the engine over. If I turn the key on and wait a few seconds it turns over fine. I replaced both battery terminals and the battery is fully charged. I looked at the connections on the starter and they appear fine, not loose or corroded??? Any ideas what to look for is appreciated

Hmm... clicking noise means your solenoid is kicking the starter into the flywheel (it's suppose to do this). If it doesn't start, then you might have a starter that is on its way out.

Pull the starter out and get it tested at a shop.

What year and which engine?
If you've got a 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE), this is a pretty common problem - the contacts burn up, but the rest of the starter is fine. There are write-ups on the Internet about fixing it.

Starter replacement

OKay, The starter has finally quit.. Is this a hard job to replace? It's a 95 srv.The engine is a 3.0 with an auto trans, 2wd. I was told I'd have to pull the trans out . Is this true??
