starter staying engaged.

My starter stays engaged when its below 40 degrees outside. I replaced the contacts but no luck, I have the clutch cancel switch but hardly never use it, any ideas before I go deep into my 4runner?

Get out the multimeter and chase it down. If you have a factory starter relay, I'd look there first, maybe it's getting stuck open?

Possibly the solenoid going out? 40 degrees should not affect anything. Very weird. I would try the clutch cancel switch more often.
I do have a 22re part-out going on. If you want to try a used starter that's known to work, PM me.

thats the long way to do it due to the fact that once the motor gets warm after starting it once or twice it has to get cool before It will do it again. I'm pulling the motor out within a month and resealing most of it so I'll look into it then.

mine dose it from time to time. temp dont matter. i just shut it down and restart or let it ride. if it wants to eat its self i dont care anymore.

Haha I guess I'll do the same, It's pretty easy to remove and if wants to kill itself I guess I'll let it.
