Okay guys. Been having this issue for many months now. Thought it was the battery simply losing it's cranking amperage but I put in a new battery and still the same. Some times the truck will start on the first try but other times I have to turn the key 2-3 times before it will crank over. I just get a "click" (like you would when you don't have enough juice to turn the engine over).
Could it be that the starter is just sticking, kinda like when a car sits up for a long time? Mine doesn't sit up though. I really hate to just start replacing parts, I don't have the money for that. When the starter does engage it has no problem turning the engine over, it doesn't sound weak at all.
Also is the solenoid ON the starter on these trucks or is it separate from the starter? Would I be able to test the solenoid to see if that is the issue?
Thanks!
