starting problem 1990 22re

Had battery,alt,starter checked everything good. Every once in a while sounds like struggles to turn over or wont all the way. The weird part is when I keep trying to start it the power steering lines get very hot? Any ideas. Of course when I take it to get looked at it starts right up.

I did just replace the engine and someone just told me that it could be a ground wire? Does anyone know where I would start to see if it is? I know that there was one ground wire that was in the wire harness that got grounded to the intake. Could that be it?

There is a ground wire on the back of the engine that attaches to the fire wall. Im stumped about you power steering lines getting hot.

Is it a wire that just goes from the block to the firewall? I was just realizing that the only place the engine is grounded to the truck is from the alternator. Im thinking that the engine its self should be grounded also?

Yes it goes from the back of the block to the firewall. Its maybe 8inches long

The engine has a bad ground. It is trying to ground through the power steering lines. The engine mounts rarely provide a good ground. Make sure there is a solid ground form the engine to the chasis.

I too just finished an engine swap. My engine ground is on the passenger side near the front of the block just below where the ac mounts

Yep added grounds from block and head turns over great now and runs better too.
