I hope someone has faced my situation and has a solution.
Very long story short,
Sometimes it starts, sometimes not. Typically you hear the first click and nothing. Sometimes a faint buzz from the engine bay after the click when holding it on for a few seconds.
Sometimes I can turn key on and off and it works.
Sometimes I turn key on and off 15 times and it works.
Sometimes after 15 tries I hit starter while someone turns it over and it works and sometimes not.
What I have done,
2 starters in a year. (seems like the issue is fixed but still sporadically happened again so I am not doing it again if I don't have to.)
Tightened ground wire off negative cable, tightened cable from battery to fuse box and neither helped. Battery is good. Radio always works, clock is good, lights on dash bright.
Here is an issue that is separate but I fear may be linked.
Truck was starting fine for a few months, then on ice the truck slides into my garage and I replace back door. Took my harness and computer and transferred it over. Alarm was going off and wouldn't stop so the ground wire is now cut to disarm the alarm system.
The starting issues have been since day 10 of getting the truck. I am pretty sure I got suckered and there is history with the truck that wasn't disclosed to me. Has anyone faced these issues and has a fix?
