I posted here a few weeks ago and you guys helped me zero in on a axle leak that was causing driving issues so I am hopeful someone may have some insight on a starting issue.
I have a '99 SR5 with about 160K miles and occasionally I have problems with it starting. It's been happening for a few months now but the problem is noticeably worse when the temps are very cold.
When I turn the key to accessories, everything turns on just fine and when I turn the key again star the engine I get a hear a click and then nothing happens. The click does not continue. It just clicks once and then silence and there is no change to the accessories being on.
When I had the axle leak fixed a few weeks ago my mechanic was convinced the starting issue was due to a corroded battery terminal. I replaced the corroded terminals with brand new ones but the starting problems continue.
The problem seems very intermittent. I was at a ski resort yesterday and after sitting most of the day the car started just fine in the afternoon (temps were in the 20s all day). After warming up for 5 minutes I had to run back inside so I turned the car off. I returned about 25 minutes later and then it wouldn't start. It probably took 3 attempts at turn the key before it started.
The only other issue that may be related is what may be a power issue. If I am stopped at a light with heat on full, it seems ok but when I hit the gas and start going I can hear the heater putting out more air. I thought maybe this would indicate a spark plus issue and maybe related to the starting issues.
