Starting Troubles

Need some advice where to look.

1990 auto v6 runner

I have a remote start installed on the truck. The remote start works every time to start the truck. The key start, however, works randomly. This suggests something loose or failing. Where though I am not sure. When the key is turned the system all clicks. I can even hear what I believe is the coil on the starter engaging but the starter does not. Is it possible that the starter is not getting enough power? If that is true then why does the remote start work flawlessly.

Would appreciate any advice on the matter.

That starter may just need new contacts in the solenoid. (Many have had the issue.) It may even be easier than that... Try cleaning the battery terminals first.

Starter is brand new, battery is brand new, as well as the terminals. If the issue was with any of these the remote start would be having the same issue.
