Starts and Dies after 20 seconds.

1999 4Runner 3.4l auto with 275000km (170000mi). Trying to help a friend out. Driving at highway speed truck backfires and dies. Towed to dealer and a timing belt and spark plugs replaced. Dealer couldn't get the 4Runner running. After a few weeks it was towed from the dealer to an independent garage where new mass air flow, one coil and TPS installed. It's still not running. A few weeks later towed to another independent garage installed a new igniter, an injector and another coil. The 4Runner starts up easily. It runs rough like its missing on a couple of cylinders. Then after about 20 seconds it dies. Compression tests at 180 across all cylinders, good fuel pressure and spark as well as checking the injectors are getting a signal. Tried switching the coils around. There is a code that keeps popping up for an igniter fault. I'm not even sure if it needed a timing belt or it was just a misdiagnosis.

I had a similar problem and it was my MAF . So make sure all of your grounds are good
