std equipment question

I'm considering selling my 3rd gen for a 4th gen 4Runner. I've been doing my research and searching for info, but at this time I've got a couple of easy questions for anyone who cares to help. Searching through the threads here yields mostly info on mechanical differences. So far I've only physically looked at one 04 SR5 and I quickly noticed two differences between it and my 2000.

Firstly, my 3rg gen has auto up and down on both drivers and passengers front windows, but the 4th gen only had drivers side.
Secondly, my 3rg gen has 4 power outlets (three up front, one in the cargo area) and the 4th gen only had 2 (one up front and one in the cargo area).

Is this observation correct? Do SE or Limiteds have more power outlets?

My SE only has one outlet upfront and one in the rear... So I know where you are coming from, as I too have a 2000 (Part of what made me look for, and decide on a late model 3rd gen) All about the Creature comforts :driving:

Correct about auto windows. Correct about outlets, there are fixes for the outlet issue tho. The 4th gen had a "smoker's kit" which gives you one extra while staying with the factory look.

Thanks guys. Certainly not a deal breaker, but good to know. Funny how Toyota makes those kind of decisions, these are things I would have expected to carry across to a new generation.

I'll always love the 3rd gen, but the 4th gen, well, you can't go wrong.

As far as the windows, if you are technically proficient, I thought I saw a thread about how the 4thgen SURF does have all auto up/down on all 4 windows. I don't think anyone followed up on that though. I'm sure it's quite possible, just an incredible PITA to do. This thread might help for those interested (not OEM):

I went from a 3rd gen (99) to a 4th gen (07) and I have to say I like the fact that auto up/down is only on the driver's window. That's the only one that needs auto anyway. The auto up/down on the front passenger side window used to drive my wife crazy, she never could figure out how to open the window part way!

As for the power outlets, I agree, the 4th gen is an unexplainable step back. Fortunately I have the "Smokers Kit" so I have 2 up front and 1 in the rear. Funny thing, they are connected to different fuses. I know this because I did the 'constant on' modification (highly recommended, BTW, especially if you have a refrigerator) and while the front "regular" power outlet is constantly on, the auxiliary/cig lighter 12v outlet is still switched with the accessory power. When I travel, the GPS is connected to the switched outlet and the fridge is connected to the constant-powered one. That way my GPS (Garmin Nuvi) switches on and off with the power (the Garmins will switch on when they detect power.)
