steering box

hey all,

have a 91 auto v6 and in need of a new steering box, or so my old mechanic says back in tx. i'm wanting to hit up a pick and pull but i've never been. anything i should look for, take with me (tools), expect to pay? what all do i need to actually get?

well, i did some research.

i found that the list price is $1800 but found some for $75 at jim's used toyota truck parts. a rebuild is about $350. can anyone help me spot a worthy used one over jim's?
