Steering jerks

[HALFDZNROSES]

My son has bought this 4runner and they rebuilt it got new tires on it... Everything running good.... Now there is a shake in the steering. If you are driving behind you can see the front tires wobble like a shopping cart.

The wheel barrings are ok, the steering arms are good. Everything seems tight.

Any ideas what could be causing it?
He turns 16 this weekend, Would really like to know he is safe and try get it fixed ASAP.

1988 4runner straight axle.

I had a vibration as well and replaced the lower ball joints at the same time as the steering rack bushings. I no longer have the shimmy. Hope this helps. Some possibilities...

EDIT: Just realized you're dealing with an '89. Disregard the above post as most does not apply to that generation. This is the 1996-2002 4runner forum. I would post your question in the "classic 4runners" forum.

Im a little confused im pretty sure thr only solid front axle 4runners were 1985, i know that 89 was IFS, so either your punched in the wrong year or if a axle was swapped into the front then maybe they did a bad job at aligning it.

Thank you, it is a 1988. It has been swapped to straight axle. They will be getting the alignment checked today. The front end guy that looked at it had no idea what it was, but he did not put it on the machines either...
