steering stabilizers, do i need them??

so i want to run 34's, and i hear much talk thatif you go to 35, you need steering stabilizers, well ill be going just under it would i still need them?? if so what would you recomend, i dont know squat on these.

i have a 06' 4runner.

also same qustion but with a 05' Tacoma doulbe cab, my brother's. he's already running them but is not sure he needs them, (got him scared, he doesnt want to buy all new steering components.)

No experience with them on a T4R, but I had one on my Ranger with just 31's and now that I have the 4R with standard sized tires I can feel the little pull and kind of miss having one. With those sized tires I would think you would want one for sure.

I have not heard of anyone using a steering stabilizer on a newer T4R, nor can I imagine how you'd even engineer one to fit since our trucks use a rack and pinon steering system

Where did you read that a 4th Gen T4R needs a steering stabilizer for 35" tires? There's a number of guys over on the Toyota 120 forums and no one is using a steering stabilizer......

just some old fogie of an off road niebor of mine, well its good to hear this i dont need to spend the extra cash, but what about my brother, does he need them?

I doubt you need those, I know no one on 120 has ever needed those except the guys will full SAS setups.

For 34's you might just consider re-gearing to compensate for the gas and power lost but thats a option only.

Most who have replied have said it already, but the only reason you would need stabilizers on either truck would be if you did a SAS. I run 35's with all stock steering and it's perfect. Cheers!
