Steering Vibration

Bought a new 2011 Limited and am experiencing some vibration in the steering wheel around 65 mph. The vibration is so intense that it rattles my passenger seat if no one is riding shotgun. I searched and found that others had experienced similar problems. I've had the wheels balanced twice; once by the dealer and another road-force balanced by an independent shop.

That just seemed to move the problem to a higher speed range. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks...new to the forum. Looking forward to getting this sorted out and engaging in great conversation.

it certainly sounds like a tire issue. keep pestering the dealership to fix the issue, even if that means they need to give you one or more new tires. insist a service tech go out with you on a test drive.

my nieghbor who i saw driving a new pathfinder said he test drove a couple 4runners at first, but was turned off by massive vibration past 60 MPH. he says he was driving SR5 4x4's. i was shocked by this...

Limited Vibration

There is 9,000 miles on my Limited and no substantial vibration over 65mph. What brand tires are on your Limited. Mine has a slight vibration on hard acceleration. And with the Yoko tires there is handling issues on certain grooved highways. Getting something fixed takes alot of nagging and repeat visits with Toyota dealers. Does sound like a tire balance issue. let us know the solution.

well it's often tire balance, but can also be the tires flat spotting from sitting on the lot for a long time not being driven any real distances. i have come across this test driving a lot of vehicles. it usually fixes itself after driving them a while, but sometimes it doesn't.

I appreciate the responses. It seems like a tire issue to me as well....currently running Bridgestones. I wonder if I can get the dealership to swap tires off of another Limited just to see if this corrects the problem.

This is concerning to me as I leased a 2006 4Runner for 3 years and literally never had it in the shop for ANY reason.
