Steering wheel shake before and after

2003 4x4 with 180,000 miles. Original XREAS shocks - not leaking.

I just replaced my worn out Yokohama Geolanders with a set of Grabber STX. The vibration that was there with the Yokohamas between 60 & 70 mph is worse now with the Generals.

Before I head back to get the tired re-balanced, what other causes have people found that caused vibration what were not related to balance?

Shocks?

What I get is a really specific harmonic shake that appears at 60 and disappears about 75 mph.

Sounds like wheel balancing related. If it happens consistently over two sets of tires, I would say one of your wheels is bent? Heavier tires may be accentuating the problem.
