Steering wheel shudder when braking - New Brakes Installed

I had the original rotors cut about 25K miles ago and I assumed they were just bad. So, I j replaced the front brake pads and rotors thinking it would solve the problem. I used a set of EBC blank rotors with the 7000 series greenstuff pads and still have a slight shudder/vibration under moderate to heavy braking.

I also recently replaced the tires with new michelin LTX AT2's and started noticing it after they were installed. The tires don't feel to be out of balance but I'm going to have them checked next. I've spent almost $300 and wasted a perfectly good set of OEM pads. :dammit:

Would the rear rotors produce steering wheel vibrations? What are the chances of getting bad rotors right out of the box?

Could it be the run out? I didn't measure after installing and never have on any brake job because I've always used OEM parts. Anyone else have issues after using aftermarket brakes?

i had the same problem with a shutter/pulsing when braking. thought it was warped front rotors. replaced them with ebc drilled/slotted rotors and green stuff pads. problem was still there , replaced rear rotors and pads problem GONE.

Guess, I'm getting new rear rotors and pads. Truck is hurting my pockets.

Just want to confirm that the rear rotors actually caused the steering wheel vibrations. Thanks.

I just called placeforbrakes and they said they've never seen a warped EBC rotor out of the box. They were leaning toward something in the hub assembly. I went over everything tonight and couldn't find anything that would cause the issue. Ball joints, tie rods, CV's, and U-Joints are all tight.

I then removed the rear rotors and they were in horrible shape (light pitting, irregular scuff marks from pads, and etc). I wanted to get them lightly turned but they were out of spec and they wouldn't do it. Looks like I'm buying some new rear rotors and shoes. I've dropped some coin on this truck in the last few months (tires, rotors, and pads). It beats having a vehicle payment though.

BTW, I have to give props to placeforbrakes.com. Their service is awesome and they assured me if it's the rotors\pads that they would ship me some new ones. I highly recommend doing business with them. Ask for Louis.

I need some help. Lately, my 04 4 runner has laltely been braking really slow. it takes a long distance to brake. I need to put a lot of pressure on the pedal. Does this mean I need to change the brakes? it has 29K miles on it. The mechanic said it is almost gone. Do i need to change my rotors? Also which brand of brake pads do u recommend? How is the HAWK LTS Truck/SUV pads?

I was just at a Toyota Dealer for warranty crap the other day. My steering wheel also shuttered when braking. The dealer informed me that the brakes and rotors in the rear were CRAP and replaced them under warranty. Shuttering is now GONE.
