Stereo performace dies when engine off?

Been a while since I posted but have a question. I installed a system a few years ago in my '04 and everything has been working great. I power it off a secondary battery. Recently if I put the ignition in ACC, the sound is horrible..sounds like an old scratched record. When I turn the engine on, everything is fine and sound is perfect. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what is causing this. Could it be a ground somewhere? Here's my old writeup of the install.

Thanks for any help.

hows the second battery? check the voltage of that with the key off and then check it again with engine on, i think the battery is weak.

Yep, with engine off it shows 10, with engine on it shows 14.3. So does this mean the battery is toast? I put the battery on a 2amp slow charge and we'll see how that goes.

10 volts shows the battery is weak, the 14.3 shows you alternator is good. The slow charge may not do any good. If your alternator is putting out 14.3 volts you are getting a charge and the battery isn't holding it.
