Stereo wiring oddness

See attached pic. What is the grey wire bundle on the right for? What was the PO doing splicing the pink and red wires? Are they for the tweeters? Shouldn't they be with the other speaker wires in the middle bundle?

Sorry for stupid questions, I am awful with wiring.
