My 2016 TEP bought March of this year has the sticky pillars as well. Never noticed it until brought up hear. Guess I need to stop reading these things....

Need to check mine, doubtful I'll find anything as its only a month old, my guess would be that the rear pillars are somewhat protected by the tinted windows.

I had mine tinted the week I got it with ceramic on all windows, vent Windows during the day with vent shades and use a sun screen on the front glass so not sure the issue is heat. I have my 10k service in the next few weeks so we'll see what the dealer has to say.

I just checked (for the first time) and I wouldn't say it was sticky but rather tacky (which in my mind is a lower level of stickiness). After running the A/C and driving around it was gone. My guess is that the plastic is somewhat hydrophilic and attracts humidity.
Either way I'm not terribly worried since caressing the a-pillar while i drive isn't something I'm into.

I feel like this statement helps support my humidity theory. I bet people in dry climates don't notice this, but in humid climates it feels tacky.

The A-pillars on my 5 month old SR5 feel tacky, as well.
I wonder if it could be a reaction to off-gassing from other materials in the vehicle. I have to clean the inside of the windshield about once a week, because of a thin film that forms. I have experienced this in other cars when they were new, also.

Just returned from my 10K service and the dealer advised that the stickiness is not normal and ordered a new set of pillar covers for mine under warranty. Just a wild guess here but I imagine the new ones will do the same....only time will tell.
On a side note I will tell you that wiping them down with a little isopropyl alcohol does help remove some of the stickiness. I did this to my drivers side pillar after the front windshield was replaced to remove some smudges from the installer and it's remained dryer to the touch.

I don't park in the sun...have covered parking at home and work. which doesn't say it won't get hot still...but no direct exposure. Also no kids. And trust me I have never cleaned the interior with solvents because I haven't cleaned it ever. I found out from my pastor, who bought my old 2001, that he's planning to sell it for no reason other than they don't need that size vehicle. Between the deteriorating plastic on a reasonably new car, and the stupid lack of a full size bumper behind the license plate...I'm about to sell this 2015 and get my 2001 back. Toyota cheaped out making the 2015. I'm not a happy buyer and will certainly look at other makers when I do replace this beast.
