Stiffer Springs

Looking for recommendations. Need much stiffer rear springs. Just installed brand new '99 talls. But my trailer is pretty heavy on the tongue.

So looking for stiffer. I have airbags as well. Have 1" body lift. Not looking to add lift.

What would you recommend?

Anyone in the greater Phoenix area want to save some $ on new '99 tall rear springs?

If you want it level when trailering, it's gonna be "lifted" in the rear when empty. I can't recommend a specific model of spring to use, but OME has a zillion springs to choose from.

I have a 1 inch body lift also, with 99 talls. The 906 has a nice 2 inch lift, its nice and stiff. Will give you some rake unloaded, maybe 1" or a tad more with the 99 talls, and will level out with heavy weight. I don't trailer, but I run a lot of heavy metal gear in my rig and on the roof almost full time.

I was in the same situation as you when towing my boat trailer. I went with the OME 890's and it maybe droops an inch? But it sits level when under load. I would go with the 906's or the 890's. Good luck with your decision!

wow must be heavy on the tongue,
I have 99 talls, , kyb and airbags. pulled a motorcycle trailer and recently my sons 21 foot sjx jet boat and had no real drop
but then maybe they are both balanced better and not so tongue heavy

5th gen 4Runner springs give a bit more lift than '99 talls (less than the OME options) and are cheap to try. They are much stiffer than the stock springs. They have a shorter free length and might be a little loose in the spring seats at full droop, so watch out if you jump or do serious offroading.

I am currently running them with 10mm trim packers to take up the slack at full droop.

906's are progressive rate springs and may be your best bet for a towing spring, but they will lift you another ~1" from where you are right now.

Ok, after doing some reading, avoiding lift is unlikely. So I'm thinking the ome 890's with my airlift1000 airbags.

890's installed. The difference betw them and the new '99 talls is HUGE. Before, my airbags touched at both ends even with the truck unloaded. Now, with the truck unloaded there's 3"+ room between the airbags and the bottom.

Are you sure you had TOYOTA 99 talls to begin with. were they yota or MOOG. My airlift 1000 don't touch when unloaded. Was the bump stop ( in spring) cut back like it is supposed to be.Toyota talls installed over 40k ago in mine and still going strong.
but glad you got the 890's installed and happy with them.

3bears, I bought them direct from toyota. They were a bit taller than the original springs. Part numbers were correct. I was definitely surprised. Bumpstops were cut per the instructions. Only one puck in there.
