Still love my Toyota

Heh, I haven't seen any new commercials. And you're right. Nothing is more forgivable to the public then taking responsibility and taking action. Toyota hasn't done this. They waited on this until it was too late and the public already lost their confidence in them. Then they blame floor mats. Floor mats? Really? Tylenol did a stellar job in damage control after someone tainted a couple bottles with cyanide. Toyota has a lot of confidence building to do again. We have a short memory though, and the ball is in Toyota's court.


On another note, I just saw some cheezy lawyer commercial asking for people to call them if they had injury due to stuck accelerator and so on, and so on. Just some turd trying to make a buck on this. Made me angry.

Actually, with a couple of models, they havent said that the floor mats were responsible, everyone else has said that the floormats were at fault

and its true, the floormat would get on top of the accelerator...

So yes, in some of the recall, its completely true that the floormat was the cause...


and they did take responsibility, and are fixing it, in fact, they shut down their production lines to come up with a solution... Ford/Dodge/Gm have never done that...

On a side note David Letterman (he's on after the news) is still ripping on Toyota and I don't find him funny at all even if he was knocking another brand. Maybe he'll stop once Toyota stops annoucing recalls. At this point, is Toyota announcing recalls even news anymore? No different than talking about the economy or universal health care.

All car manufacturers have recalls. The American car companies (especially Ford) are really taking advantage of Toyota's misfortune but just wait - they've had plenty of recalls in the past so it wouldn't surprise me to see another sometime in the near future.

I just saw a Toyota commercial last evening - it was an apology. I really thought it was great. Can anyone imagine Ford, GM, or Chrysler spending all that money on a commercial that is an apology?

I have 2 Toyota's ('08 4Runner, '10 Tacoma) and I'd buy another TODAY (If I had some extra cash :biggrin2: )

Toyota makes a superior product and this bit of humility will keep their standards high.
I have never had a problem with my Toyota. My 4Runner is the best vehicle I have ever owned, and my family and friends own Toyota by a clear majority. The recall will likely be one of the best ever conducted and a few months from now I hope the press reports THAT too.
and David Letterman should be removed from Television.

I still love my Toyota and I would by another one in a heartbeat....

....another one from Japan. No one seems to talk about it, but all the recalled Toyotas(except for this small wave of Prius brake problems, which has nothing to do with the recall for sudden exceleration) are Toyotas made in American and Canadian plants with a bad part from an American supplier. I bought my 4Runner because it's made 100% in Japan, and I would buy another one. I would buy a Lexus, Land Cruiser, or Prius too. As long as it wasn't made in America.

You know, I think its funny. The mainstream media is crucifying Toyota over these accelerator issues and now, brake issues on a SMALL batch of Prius's. However, when Fords and Chevys were exploding, rolling over and catching fire, they were not villified in the media nearly as much as Toyota is being now. At least Toyota is stepping up, admitting the problems and working to fix them. All Chevy and Ford did was deny, deny, deny.\

And yes, I still love mine, and would buy another without hesitation.

Yeah...me too...I own 3 Toyotas all with J vin numbers....AND I'll be looking for the J vin number on the next ones I buy. The Toyotas I have owned have not been without any issues but they have very few and ALL were resolved by the dealers without any aggravation or confrontation...which is way more than I can say for GM.

David Letterman is ripping Toyota as a nice diversion from the media reporting on how much of a huge scumbag he is in his personal life. Next Tiger Woods will be ripping on Toyota....:repuke:

I'd buy another 4Runner in a heartbeat. I'm not so sure about any other Toyota products regardless of where they were manufactured. My Japanese built 2008 RAV4 is fun to drive with the V6 in it but it feels like 2500 parts flying in loose formation driving down the road, more rattles and buzzes than any other vehicle I have ever owned, and I'm including a 1971 Chev Nova in that list. Not to mention the transaxle on the RAV that whines between 40 and 60, lots of complaints by RAV owners but Toyota says its normal. Just got a notice from Toyota about a " Customer Service Campaign " to replace the oil return hose on the engine in the RAV. V6 owners have been complaining about this for a long time so Toyota finally gets around to addressing it. Funny thing is the oil return hose installed on all new V6s is completely metal, but the "fix" is just another rubber hose.
