I live in NM and we have the black ones... and yes, they stink like sh!t.
Those other ones are new to me. The black ones are slow, don't fly, and don't climb things. That's why I was reading this post going "Is this a joke?" I just couldn't see how a ton of the black ones could get in a 4Runner, but those other kind I am not familiar with.

ive never seen CJ80's stinkbug before, looks like a warrior to me! anyways, I know they normally do this to houses but maybe you can find a termite company that would be willing to help out and put one of those tent over your runner for a couple of days and spray there chemicals and kill them biotches off!! :gun6:

Yes, these are the ones I was referring to. The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug. The ones that look like they have a shield on their back. They are new to region and first starting showing up around 1998-2000, but in the last 3-5 years have multiplied by the billions and now they're everywhere.
Death Valley is a little too far of drive for me. I will try the alcohol. I'd rather not take off every piece of interior trim and the seats for this. I've never done that before and wouldn't want to not be able to re-assemble.
I also like the air freshener grenade idea. Are we sure that works??

No need to go to DV. They have hot summers in Maryland. Roll up the windows and park it in the sun and the inside air temp will easily exceed 125 degrees.
That's why you never leave a pet or child in a car on a hot day. With the windows shut they are like greenhouses.

Maybe I should dump a family of spiders in the truck to make webs and eat every stink bug. Anybody know how to get rid of spiders?

Back when my family used to plant fields those stinkbugs would be all in the crops but no more of a population than any other insect. I've never had or heard of an infestation problem of stinkbugs here in the south. We must have a natural predator which is more than likely birds.

Not sure if this problem was solved but if you can get your hands on 100% Acetone that will get rid of them. I had a huge problem with them in my house hold and i ended up trying some different chemicals from work, 100% iso worked a little bit but not enough.
What i ended up doing was taking a bag of shop rags and SOAKING them in acetone. Because 100% Ace dries very quickly you need to soak it into something. Then i layed them around window sills, counter tops, baseboard, etc. Acetone has a very potent smell to it and i literally watched a good 5-6 of these nasty f****** come out of hiding in my sills and fly out the window.
Never had a problem since, oh and by the way, make sure if your laying them rags down on surfaces you put some kind of metal or thick plastic between them, the acetone WILL eat the paint, or plastic surface away easy.
Good luck to you and oh, make sure you spare one of those nasty things so you can soak it with some acetone and watch that hard shell of his crumble away haha.

I think this is the best suggestion so far. Just don't let any of it touch the paint or plastic.

I guess I lost track of this thread. Be very careful with acetone. Balled up saturated rags will combust. I use it at times and I spread the rag out to dry before throwing it away.
I saw an idea for a stink bug trap. You use two clear 2-liter soda bottles and any kind of small LED light you can find. You cut the bottoms off the bottles about 4 inches up. Put the LED light in the first bottom. Insert the second bottom above it. Put a solution of water and a few drops of dish soap in it. Then invert one of the soda bottle tops and put it over the bottom. The theory is they will be attracted to the light and drown in the soapy water. There were no pictures included with the write up and I haven't needed it.
