Figured I'd post my adventure here, got a 98 limited with factory rear locker... which was a huge lifesaver. Went with a guy from a minnesota group here and met with his friends who were all Isuzu club...
I drove 1300 miles there did a bunch of trails and then 1300 miles back 3 days later and no hiccups, freaking awesome.

I only did two trails, Top of the World and A 10 mile wash.
Top of the world i banged my undersides a lot, I had rock sliders from 4x4 innovations hoping to install them out there but got quoted 600 dollars

A ten mile wash, well there were some really skinny paths from which i either had to hug the trees and scratch my rig or fall into the water on the sides, also lots of mud.

All in all If I had rock sliders or a proper lift I probably would've been fine the entire trip.

Way to represent MN! And you're brave for doing those w/o sliders! I'm not concerned about my bumpers, but the rockers would make me nervous. If you ever want to go up to Gilbert, let me know! I'm in the cities too here.

SOLD!!

This makes me want to get sliders and head out to Moab!!

Great pics! And thanks for sharing.

We're you limited to only 2 trails bc of the truck or could you have done more?

I think it was because he was only there 3 days. I live 6 hours away and won't go there for only 3 days. You barely scratch the surface of Moab in a weeks time.....

I'd also make sure to have belly skids/gas tank/etc. My buddy slammed his down a few times, just depends on the trails I guess though. I don't care about my bumpers as they'll hopefully get replaced with steel sometime, but drivetrain makes me nervous

We spent two days in Moab doing White Rim last year. Wanted to do Top of the World too, but was tired from driving. Also didn't know if I'd want to take my almost stock T4R, but looks like it was possible. Great pictures!

Google midwest overland society, they group together and do trips often.

I was supposed to be there for a week, I did top of the world day one, the white rim trail day 2 and ten mile wash day 3. Was supposed to go to poison spider on my 4th day but something came up at home so I had to drive back.

I actually forgot to put back my stock armor that goes under the oil pan, I did hit my tow hitch a lot but nothing else was hit.

Twin cities here! I'm in for pretty much any Sunday or Tuesday!

it 'does not' amaze me what a stock 3rd gen 4runner can do. these trucks are built to explore.

I agree, with the comments here, you really only need armor as a safety concern...

Great Job enjoy'n moab.
