Stock Radio Freezing

As long as I can remember the stock radio has intermittently reset itself / froze about once a month. The last 6 months or so, it has been doing it several times a week. Am I missing some fireware update or is there a fix? It either just totally resets itself (reboots) or becomes unresponsive to everything (still allows music to play just can't change station, turn on / off, anything really...)

If there is no solution, can you all recommend me a head unit to replace with? Not an audiophile or anything crazy. Use for calls, rear view camera, nav. Basics... Would like to maintain steering wheel controls and rear view camera...

Thanks.

Yeah, it's a common issue and should be resolved with an update.

This is a direct link to the Toyota site with Entune updates and download instructions (you can compare with the version on your head unit):

Common issue. My fix was to delete BT and not link my phone to the system. Not an option for everyone, but I personally don't GAF about being tethered to a phone. One I deleted the phone my lockup issues stopped.

It’s funny because I did the entune update. I deleted BT too. And still happened. I got fed up with this POS, so I upgraded to the Kenwood 876. 2 weeks later it friggin happened with this head unit! I get it once or twice a month. Which leads me to believe it’s a power issue..

Needless to say I do love the kenwood.

How do you go about deleting BlueTooth? Do you mean deleting the Registered Phone? For some reason, I thought you meant disabling the Bluetooth ability of the Head Unit. Thanks!

Yeah, sorry. Deleting the registered phone and then not turning the Bluetooth on on your phone to confound the head unit.
