Stock Rims painted!

Im sorry but being honest here and this is just my opinion but those rims are fugly painted black- they look much better stock or some sort of silver but to me they just arent designed to be black and im a big fan of black rims. truck looks good and again nothing personal, just my .02

01t4rnr - I can appreciate your honesty. Everyone is def. entitled to their own opinion, and I def. know that not everyone is going to like everything. That's what makes this world so great. You are not the only one who doesn't like the wheels black...my wife hates them! Thanks for looking either way.
 
pretty much any 265 u get for 15" wheels r gonna hav 2 b special order so more cash.. but looks great w/o the running boards
 
Wow those wheels look GOOD. You have inspired me. I have the same rims, but the clearcoat is chipping and there are some scratches. I can't afford powdercoat, dont think it's necessary after seeing your wheels. Ill be getting some new tires soon. That will be a perfect time to paint. Could feel like Im driving a new runner. Currently sporting 265's, will probably stick with that size.
 
Yep..still no complaints. The paint hasn't chipped, and they still look the same as the day I painted them. I felt like I was driving a whole new truck as well. You have the perfect tire size that I want! Lucky!

I see you're in Templeton. I'm about 90 mins south near Santa Maria.
 
I cant say I have had every tire, but I can say this size seems to work well on the runner as far as not bogging down the truck durring accel.

Perhaps a run-in some time. T-town and V-burg :bigok:
 
I like the black wheels, thinking of doing this myself. Here is a picture of a 2wd with 31s

I thought I was buying some 32s this weekend, but they were stolen out of the guys truck the night before I was going to pick them up.

Dang thief
 
- Degreased and cleaned wheels really well, got all dirt and debris off.
- Sanded lightly by hand. Just enough to rough it up a bit. Nothing to extreme.
- 4 coats primer.
- 3 coats paint.

That's it.

Maybe I should do this to my stock rims and then try to sell them... I got them listed in the classifieds and not much interest so far...

I already bought a Daystar 2.5 inch spacer lift. It should be here any day. I haven't decided which tires to put on yet. I'm hoping to stumble across some BFG AT's on Craigslist for cheap. I think with the 15's I can probably get away with some 31's or 32's max and it will still look pretty tough.

I have 15's on mine and I use a 32x11.50 BFG all terain and it looks really beefy and does great off road.
