Stockish Muffler

Hey all, been running a Gibson catback for almost 6 years, enjoyed it! It's about time for a quieter exhaust, trip/kids/wake up and bed time, etc etc etc.

What mufflers have you all used that are relatively quiet, maybe stock replacements etc. Gibson is much quieter than most, but looking to be quieter now. Rather just keep the piping and tip and just swap muffs!

Thoughts?

I put on a Walker Quiet-Flow SS muffler when it came time to replace the factory original muffler on my 03 Limited.

WALKER® EXHAUST SYSTEMS :: Walker® Quiet-Flow SS

Boss man, just ordered it, pretty close to stock but a little louder?

Good stuff! I would say that the Walker is fairly close to stock, noise-wise. I can't say for certain because at the time of my OEM original muffler replacement, there was serious rust perforation (holes!) between my muffler and the tail pipe, making my V8 sound more like something from NASCAR :P

The Walker was fairly quiet, with a bit of exhaust note when you really accelerated hard.

Did the install yesterday. It was super easy. Be sure to get all new hardware, gaskets etc.

The sound is really good....quiet...except when you get on it, there is a slight deeper tone (as noted by Bossman).

Thanks guys, my Gibson is relatively quiet compared to others, however I am getting older so quieter sounds better! I ordered a muffler same size as my Gibson, which is a pretty large muffler. Guess we will see tomorrow!

Thanks for guidance dta, I don't think I'll need gaskets, just swapping same size muffler, I probably will get new clamps though!

Got a hole in my muffler pipe. I hear walker lasts, 2-3 years, unless that has changed with their new SS series. is OEM worth it for 150 more?

I had about 2 years on my Walker Quiet-Flow SS muffler at the time I traded my 03 Limited in - still in good shape.

Walker also offers a limited lifetime warranty on the Quiet-Flow. From their website:

WALKER® EXHAUST SYSTEMS :: Warranty / Safe & Sound® Guarantee

"Walker warrants qualifying exhaust products (included Walker Quiet-Flow SS Mufflers) against defects and wear-out when used on private passenger cars and light trucks under normal operating conditions for as long as such original purchaser owns the vehicle on which they were originally installed."

I was not willing to pay Toyota OEM prices for a muffler that I could get cheaper and came with a warranty.

can you share part numbers of your mufflers??

like Bossman said just check their website or any of the autoparts stores. All sale walker.

I needed a different size than stock muffler due to having a Gibson exhaust prior. My needed muffler is much larger than stock. a 26" body 31" total length and 7" round. After driving a day with it, I can still hear some v8 rumble but it is quiet a bit quieter than the 6 year old Gibson.

Its perfect for my needs.

The main Walker website page has an easy-to-use e-catalog for looking up their parts.

WALKER® EXHAUST SYSTEMS :: E-Catalog Lookup

When I plugged in your 2004 Sport V8 the muffler part number came up as 56177. Tail pipe part number is 54617.

Will do! I struggled looking for the size muffler I needed on the Walker site. I went to auto part websites and found what I needed that way. Summit racing seemed to be the easiest. Had more search options if I remember correctly. Then I went to Autozone and had them order it, matched a July 4th promo of $22 off.

I had a Walker on my 3rd gen right up until this past weekend. It rusted through and fell off. Lasted 3 years. I won't be buying cheap again. It did sound good tho, lol.
