Stranded again: over heating

For the second time in 3 months I've been stranded due to overheating. After the first incident I had the water pump, thermostat, and timing belt changed. It's been fine until today. I went on a road trip 300 miles from home and 15 miles before getting there saw the temp shoot up and dummy lights came on.

have you checked the fluid? have you done the external tranny cooler mod?

what were you doing when it shot up?

Ive never seem high temps, even when pulling a 6x10 trailer full of stuff over the rockies.

Why did it overheat the first time?

My guess for the second time around after the timing belt/H20 pump was changed the coolant system was not fully vented of all the air in the system. Or damage from the first overheating was irreversible.
