Do you guys to see any problems with going from stranded to solid wire. The searching I did on the internet really didn't give me a good direction.

id try to stay with the same guage/type of wire, i know that solid type of wires are used in house/residential wireing and stranded wire is used more on car electrical,,,, kinda like solid wire is for AC and and stranded wire is for DC, i dont know if that makes sence,, id reccomend using stranded same guage wire,, my .02

Extending switches will be fine. The only thing you need to consider doing that is that solid core fatigues if the wire is not going to be static. So if it's going to flop around or whatever, it will break. Your not pulling huge current or anything. Just use an adequate gauge that at least is equal to what your extending.

Definitely go with stranded. As mentioned, Solid was not made for the vibration and environment of the vehicle. It is intended for household use only. Stranded wire is more durable for what is encountered in vehicles, aircraft, boats, etc.
