Hi Guys
I've got a JDM 2.7 5speed 4x4.
Recently rebuilt the engine completely.
The vehicle drives perfectly, at all speeds, but when loading the engine (i.e. accelerating) at around 2000 rpm in 3rd, 4th, 5th gear (possibly others) I get an odd light squeal or whine. It does not happen in overrun or if I rev the engine when stationary.
It does not sound like a gear meshing sound, more like a light squeal, or even a venturi sound. Just wondering what it might be?
As said, no other problems. I suspect possibly an alternator belt (belt is new and seems to be correctly tensioned) or the idler for the power steering belt. Or it's something in the transmission. Hard to locate the sound because it's so high frequency and only happens when the vehicle is moving at some speed.
Any ideas?
Thanks
EO
