Strange overheating problem...

Sorry that my first post here has to be about a problem...but there you go!

I have a 92 4runner, V6, that has new head gaskit, new water pump, new thermostat, new rad, new rad cap....

It can sit outside my house and idle for hours, temp just fine.
BUT...I take it for a drive around the block and up goes the temp, into the red...

It overheated about six months ago and my local garage replaced the head gaskit and skimed the heads and replaced the water pump...and all was fine till a while ago when it started to over heat again..so changed rad, stat etc..
no joy.

the local garage say they have no idea....

Theres no water showing in the oil that i can tell.

Somebody suggested fan problems, somebody else said 'freeze plugs'

Any ideas?

Thanx.

You didn't mention a new fan clutch... I'd look at that and make sure that all of the OE fan shroud is there and secure.

ahhh.....it's the original fan clutch. The shroud is all there and complete although a bit loose..I'll change the clutch, tighten up the shroud and report back!!

Thanx
