So it unlocks but wont lock. sounds like a issue in the control panel for the locks u can probly get another panel and swap it out and probly fix the problem

The previous owner had done an online "ask a mechanic" kind of thing and they mentioned something about a new ECU, but the price was outrageous like $400. Did I miss somewhere where someone said the ECU was made of gold or something?

I may be skipping through your thread haphazardly here, but are you sure the remotes are paired correctly? Could it be something as simple as that?

So I got some new batteries for the remotes today and they'll unlock, but not lock the doors. Same thing goes for the switches inside. Any clues?

I also took off the interior panel for the lift gate. The gate handle wasn't engaging the cable that goes to the latch mechanism. I moved a plastic thing and it started engaging the cable, however, when I use the key to roll down the back window it pushes that plastic piece back over and the handle won't engage the cable. I have to manually push it back over to get it to do so. So now I'm not sure what parts I need to fix my lift gate to where it will latch. Any help on these issues would be appreciated. Thanks!

Could the lock solenoids be seized up?

Played with the locks tonight at work. I removed the kick panel and after putting some pressure in different spots around the back of the fuse panel I can now lock the doors using the interior switch. How long that will last I don't know as it was a bit sporatic. However, the lock button on my key fob still doesn't work. All I get is a buzzing noise under the hood that doesn't quit until I hit the unlock button. Still looking for that permanent fix.

Smoke, having key fobs that will unlock and not do anything else is a fairly common issue, I believe, and is often solved by reprogramming the fobs to the truck. A tedious, but doable procedure that is well documented on this site. However, before you do it, you certainly want to make sure the functions will work from the switches inside the truck. And you might also want to test your fobs. Most auto parts stores have a little tester where you just push the buttons on your remotes and if they are broadcasting a signal, the tester will light up. If your switches work and the fobs test out okay, then reprogramming may get your fobs operational again. Most people that try the programming procedure find they have to do it several times before it works. It's a timing thing and you basically get it once you are able to memorize it and not have to stop and read each step from a piece of paper.

When I first got my runner, 1 fob would only unlock the doors and would do nothing else. The other fob wouldn't do anything. Replaced batteries in both and still the same. Found and followed the reprogramming procedure and on about the third or fourth try, I got both fobs programmed and they both function fully now.

Figured out what the buzzing noise was for. I didn't have my door shut. In order to lock it with the key fob I have to have all doors closed. It works now, how long it'll last I don't know. If it's a bad circuit board I can probably fix it, but I want to know where it is first before I start tearing stuff out of the car. If anyone has a pic I'd appreciate it. Now to figure out the lift gate latch issue.
