Striping removal?

I just picked up a 94 sr5 4runner.
From what I have seen around town and in the junk yard they almost all have the striping down the sides.
What is the easiest and non-paint destroying method of removing these?
I picked up a couple fenders from the junk yard to replace my beat up fenders.
I have tried removing the striping from one of them using sticker/label remover and a razor blade.
Worked alrite minus a couple deep cuts into the paint.
Which I dont really mind becuz im just gonna repaint these fenders anyways.
But still want to remove the rest of the striping from the body without doing damage like that.
Thanks all!

PO used some sort of a Marine thing, like Marine sticker removal. It was a gel/liquid/paste or something. Sorry, it's been 10 years, but he talked about it for 20 minutes back then...

Appears to be made of vinyl after doing some research on "marine sticker removal"
Thanks all I have an idea of where to start...

The Harbor Freights around here don't have the eraser wheels but I found one at NAPA. It was $50 but well worth every penny. It strips decal and glue leaving a white dusty residue that wipes right off with a dry rag. My runner had the huge graphics down the side and they were no match for the wheel.
