Stripped skid plate nut

I installed my RCI skid today and noted that one of the front nuts is stripping. Honestly I have the feeling that an oil changing donut head pulled the plate to do an oil change and abused things.

so, any good options for replacing that nut?

I'm thinking of just drilling it and installing a nutsert. I have the astro insert tool from previous projects...

You may be able to just get a new mounting bracket (less than $20), if you don't want to do any welding.

A nutsert really isn’t a good idea down there, unless it is the only option.

Similar RCI bolt question

For someone getting ready to do the same thing this weekend (install RCI skid plate), do I need to do anything special with the bolts to avoid this down the road?
I've read that the guys getting the TRD plate should chase their threads with a tap and put anti-seize on the bolts. Do I need to do the same with the RCI bolts?

Use Anti-Seize and hand tighten. Don't use any torque wrenches or powered ratchets to tighten it down fully. Once it's snug just stop, the bolt and plate won't go anywhere.

If its for the 2 front bolts for the front skid plate, look for a bolt size smaller that will fit inside the nut (or if it's stripped out enough use the same bolt size or maybe drill it out) and find a longer bolt to go all the way through the crossmember and thread a nut on the top between the crossmember and the radiator, to hold it in place.

There are no nuts for the skid plates. If you mean bolt, you can easily chase and clean the threads in the frame where the bolts mount with a tap.
