Stripped Threads Brake Area

1989 Toyota Pickup DLX. 4wd

Just completed Rear Brake's
(1) Shoes, Brake Hdwr replace.
What preempted was RR frozen rusted
Emergency Brake Lever - which would not
move at RR wheel Brake assy.

Broken Rusted Bolt on Emer Brake Lever
Bracket on removal.
Drill out of this broken bolt - left
Only 3 good threads. Attempted Re-tap of same
M8 X 14 mm X 1.25 pitch bolt failed.

(2) Repair of stripped Emer Brake
Lever Bracket bolt Thread hole
which was stripped by over drilling
angle.
Fix - With only three, four good threads
remaining. I drilled out a slot in Rear of Emer

Brake Lever Bracket for M8 X 1.25 lock nut addition. Medium Thread ( blue) lock sealant to both of these Bracket bolts.
Bracket feels secure as original now !

Next item to complete on these
Rusted Old Brake Assemblies is
a small project of the Outer Rim Dirt
Shield for the Brake Backing Plate.
Done (1) fabricate 1/8 inch Steel Metal Shields
(2) Cut and Trim to Fit
(3) Attach to Backing Plate Rim
(4) Seal any remaining gaps

Did we miss the part where you made friends with a sand blaster and cleaned all that up and hit it with POR 15?

I like the suggestion of Sand Blast and POR15.

I have Wire Wheel Sanded a majority.
The Primer Paint Can was pulled out, however,
another Vehicles Brakes are higher priority at present. Round Tuit !

Thank you. This vehicle only sees little mileage
on the street, primarily a Farm Vehicle.
