Strong Gas Smell

I know there are plenty of threads regarding this but none of them really addressed my situation b/c unlike majority of them, I recently serviced my truck.

The last time I smelled a really strong odor of gas, the fuel line went bad and I had to have the truck towed to the dealership after loosing almost 5 gallons of gas on my garage floor. At the dealership, they replaced my fuel line (not filter).

This was about 2 months ago. Since then, I've seafoamed both the engine and gas tank, replaced the PCV valve, changed the spark plugs and wires, changed the air filter, cleaned the MAF. I'd like to say that I was able to do all of said maintenance but, unfortunately can't. I'm not the most savy of DIY guys.

What am I looking at here? Possibly the fuel filter? SIDE ?: Are the 'fuel filter' and 'fuel vent' the same thing? I'm assuming the one I have on there now is the original but, at this point, would not changing the original filter really give off a gasoline odor that strong? I also saw someone posted a thread about the fuel injector O-rings?

UPDATE: I've noticed that the smell is coming from the engine bay.

Did they replace all of the fuel lines, or just one section? If one section was bad, it wouldn't be too surprising if the other sections were in nearly the same condition, and nearly ready to fail as well. Which might be the case here.

Your sig says you have the 4cyl. It has the fuel filter bolted to the side of the engine block, under the intake manifold. Maybe one or both of the connections to the fuel filter are loose. The fuel filter and the fuel vent are not the same thing.

A fuel leak could be coming from a number of places. Since you say you aren't the most mechanically inclined, I would suggest taking it to someone who is, to track the leak(s) down.

Thanks for your insight. I'll definitely follow up with the dealership to see what they replaced. I'm sure they only replaced what was wrong.

How certain of this are you? I'm getting ready to purchase this part. Is it as simple as merely swapping it out?
