Stuck Rotors

I am looking into replacing all four rotors. They are stock with 90k on them. These things wont budge. Any secrets on how to break them lose? Penetrating oil and hope for the best?

Should be able to hit them with a BFH or a mallet. They'll break free.

I hit em with an oxy acetyline torch and a slide hammer...popped off.

I've always had good luck with PB blaster, time and a BFH...just be care in not damaging your lugs...

Anyone ever used the products from this supplier - Brake Rotors Discs Pads Brakes Cross Drilled & Slotted
Price seems reasonable and the warranty seems too good to be true. Usualyl mean the product is poo.

the cross drilled rotors and slotted rotors actually cause more issues. They have also been shown in studies to do absolutely nothing (other than looks). The cooling veins in the stock rotors have been shown to work best.

If you are looking to upgrade the pads my friend has been using HAWK pads now for a while as well as the blue DOT brake fluid. Needless to say the combination is amazing and shortened the stopping distance by 20%.

If you happen to have a local harbor freight around, they sell a Jaw Pulley puller tool that will do wonders. I used the 6 inch pulley tool on my 12.5" front rotors like a charm. Popped the rotor clean off.

Really? I've always seen that the Slotted (not both, just slotted) tend to be the most effective. I mean if they're good enough to be used on almost all Le Mans race cars I'd think they'd be fine for road work...

You have a link on this study? I would very much like to read it in case I have been spreading misinformation regarding best brake rotor design.:hiding:

I had to use a 3-jaw puller and a little heat to get mine off. Also sanded off the rust and rubbed a little synthetic wheel bearing grease on the mating surfaces. Hopefully, they'll slip off the next time I need to remove them.

I just did my front brakes yesterday. The thing that took the longest was trying to get the damn rotors off. I finally grabbed a sledge and gave 'em about 3 or 4 wacks and they finally popped off.
