Stuck Wheels

Hey I am in the middle of rotating my tires, and the rear left wheel won't come off, the lug nuts are out, but the wheel just sits there..What do I do???!?? The front wheel had some trouble coming off, but I kicked the tire a few times to loosen it, but that wouldn't work for the rear. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Beat around it with a small sledge or large hammer. This has happened to me many times. Alittle patience and some thought and you'll get it off.

try using a rubber mallet and tap around the rim. wouldnt go using any metal type hammer as this could cause damage to the rim if you happen to miss or slip while swinging and you hit the tire and it bounces back and imprints the hammer head on your forehead. dont want you ending up on america's funniest videos.

In my experience the rubber mallet just doesn't "shock" the wheel enough to make it free-up. If you use something metal just be careful, I have yet to damage a wheel or my head.:D

I also would recommend the rubber mallet method. I have used it for years with good success. One point I would make. I try to hit only on the tire, not the wheel, especially if it is a chrome or alloy. I also keep turning the tire as it hit it so I am hitting in a different place each time. It can take a while on some really stuck ones, but they will eventually break free. When it does, and before you put the wheel back on be sure to clean the built up rust from the back side of the wheel and off the center hub of the axle. Once I clean the hub, I usually give it a coating of never seize to help prevent it from sticking again.

Good luck
