stupid drain plug problem

ok i change my wifes oil in her 01 4runner, i notice it didnt have a drain plug gasket but it wasnt leaking. so i left it that way and decided to keep a eye on it. A few days later still no leaks but decide to add a gasket just 4 the hell of it. it starting leaking right away when i added the new gasket (adavance auto gasket), so i removed it and shes fine. is anyone else runing with out a gasket??

I've changed the oil in hundreds of cars of all varieties over the years. Some manufacturers like a gasket, some don't. If it doesn't leak without it, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah I wouldn't sweat it. Supposedly the gaskets are supposed to be changed regularly but Mines had the same one since I bought the truck. I thought about changing it but figured why bother. As was said, if it's not leaking don't worry about it.
