Hi guys I have an 08 sport with jbl synthesis and was wondering if anyone could recommend a sub system so i could get deeper and louder bass

It depends on what you would like to get out of the sub as well as how much room you want to take up in the back of your Runner..
JL makes a great product. My fav of theirs is the Stealth Box. They make one for the 4runner and it is a single sub in a purpose built box to fit up along the right side of your cargo area. Check out the website

IF you don't use your cargo area for storage,, by all means. go with the dual 13 route! It would slam!

I had a stealth box in my 1996 Ford Bronco and then I had one in a 1999 dodge ram.
Both of them were excellent. They blended in with the decor of the truck and provided plenty of great sounding bass.
On that note... they don't slam like 2 ported 12's would. but the do sound very good! If you are looking for an addition to your JBL system, this would be the way to go as anything more would probably drown it out.

If you're looking for audio QUALITY while remaining the factory look, grab a stealth box. It won't be loud, but it will add a good amount of bass to your stock system. If you want to be loud (i.e. to be heard outside of your car, which you will probably have to drive the woofer pretty hard to do with a stealthbox), grab a couple ported 12's. If money isn't an object, do a nice super woofer setup (i.e. JL's 13w7s or Boston Acoustics SPG-555's). I bought 2 SPG-555's for my last truck and ended selling one of them because of how ridiculously loud it was already (I can't hear shit anymore).

I have an Infinity basslink, this is a powered subwoofer. Did the research at crutchfield.com, got it somewhere else for cheaper. Also have a 4 channel amplifier for the Polk speakers in the doors. For all this, I needed a new head unit. Crutcfield is very good, lot of customer reviews on their stuff, prices the best for speakers, new head unit, they give you all the wiring, brackets you need for your truck.. BTW, the Infinity also works well as a massage. The seat is vibrating..

Would i be able to keep the 8 inch such that comes with synthesis for added bass?

Also my brother had a 03' 4runner with a nice sub setup and a nob to adjust amount of bassi n one of the blank black buttons. Is this an easy mod to do, does anyone know how to do it?

Is it possible to put subs in the liftgate? Any drawbacks? I haven't seen it mentioned and was wondering if it is a bad thing. I'm only looking to increase bass a little not to rattle the windows of the car next to me.

If you are in a position where you don't know how much bass you want.. You need to go listen to some cars that have systems in them to get an idea.
This whole going back and forth about going big for 2 to 3 grand or just going with a steal box is just a waste of time unless the guy knows what he is looking for.
The mod with putting a knob somewhere is easy, many amplifiers come with the accessory to hook up and install a simple volume knob for the bass. It really is as simple as drilling a hole and bolting it in.
Go do a higher end audio place in your area. Listen to different set ups and go from there. I can't tell you how something sounds over the web. You gota go experience it,, especially bass.
