New question! my truck is running rough and knocken from time to time. every one in this small town knows my moters going...why the hell hasnt my check engine light come on?

quick update. the chech engine light never came on but as luck would have it i was driven upto my buddies house with a 4 bay home shop just to bs (wich is the property i saved the rusty old whore from) and she blew like a motherfkr. i could see right through the bottom end and had peices of the block blow all the way up to my air box. it was loud and smokey to say the least. he had an old block layen around so i hoped to take my semi fresh top end and use the block after hand honing the cylinders. they didnt look as good as i wanted so figured if i had it bored and what have ya i could sell it for 1k ish when i decided to do the swap. im a noob but from what i understand my loocal machine shop is hot tanken it, boring it, and shaven the head??and timing chain area?>?? he said hed do it in his spare time for 300 bucks. he will tell me what pistons to get since i can get em at cost myself. i guess ill have him pressure test my head after i pick up the block. ill be installing new rod and main bearings as well as an oil pump. im hoping to have a fresh 22re for around 400. sound like im on the right track?
