Howdy...New owner of an 07 4Runner and LOVE it. I do have LOTS of dumb-ish questions since this is my first 4WD. I bought it used from a member here on the board. He'd had his spare tire stolen in Chicago. Needless to say, my tire pressure light is blinking. I suppose replacing the spare would solve that...LOL

Welcome to the board.

You didn't actually ask any questions, but you did make a suposition. ;):

Yes, replacing the stolen spare with another spare that has the tire pressure monitoring system will fix the problem.
From what I understand, the TPMS detects differences between the pressure in all 5 tires. If one is different than the other, then you'll get the warning. In your case it's very different because the 5th wheel isn't there at all.

You're gonna love your 4Runner:)

The way the TPMS works on a Sequoia is it monitors for a configured air pressure. If any tire (including the spare) falls below that pressure the light comes on. You can change the monitored pressure as well.

My bet is the 4runner works the same way.

Welcome. Where in Chitown? And stay away from MY spare!

LOL 4boer....

I live in the western suburbs and NEVER go into the city so you are safe...from me at least. I am actually a transplant from Colorado, and even after 13 yrs, I don't feel at home here.

Thanks for the welcome.....and I'll try not to be too much of a nuisance. I do notice that many of you are DIY folks. The last time a did any work on a car it was a 57 Triumph. ( it was an antique...I am not that old)..these new ones are WAY different...With 3 teens I think I'll just stick to letting my mechanic do stuff, but it's good to go in looking like I know what i'm talking about.
