anyone worried about that in the 4runner? ive started to see a lot of ES350, IS250, Camry, Tacoma, and even some Sienna's have that problem. I hope we dont experience it with our trucks! :help:

the throttle position sensor (TPS) has gotten stuck on more than one members 4th gens. Its not unheard of especially since they are all drive by wire.
sucks when it happens on the highway; however, there is nothing you can do to prevent it.
I'm interested in this but couldn't find any threads on this topic, can you post additional information?

There is nothing more really. The gas pedal is not connected to a throttle cable - its connected to a TPS or throttle position sensor. The input from the TPS is passed onto the ECU and other on-board engine/ignition/transmission computers and then they tell the engine/trans what to do etc etc...
Sometimes unexpectedly the TPS can become "stuck" and think the pedal is fully depressed when it actually isnt. This causes "sudden" acceleration as you called it.
Nothing to prevent it and nothing to lose sleep over either.
