I don't have a leak, so I think I have a fuel pump or filter issue. Here is some background on my truck's most recent problems because it may be relevant.

My 1999 4Runner has about 180k on it and recently I had a pretty bad leak fixed. The leak was from my cam seal blowing out so I also had them put in a new timing belt (which was due soon), water pump, crank seal, etc. as well as a fix a leak on the crank shaft case.
Anyway, I've had my car back for a day now and on the highway I noticed a pretty worrying drop in RPMs coupled by a oil light flicker and a sudden reduction in speed. These symptoms were almost exactly what I saw when my seal blew but this time I didn't bleed oil all over the road. The oil level is in the middle of the 'good' range right now and the engine starts up just fine but when I start moving the shuttering rpm movements come back seemingly at random.
I am thinking the oil light came on because of a drop in engine pressure from a lack of fuel getting pumped in. From what I hear this could be because of a clogged filter or a broken pump. I am hoping you'll all say that it is a my fuel filter which needs replacing because that is admittedly coming due soon and I don't know if I can swing the expense of a pump right now.
I live in an apartment and can't work on the street so even small repairs are expensive when I have to take it into a shop, besides I lack the knowhow to do most of the stuff you guys talk about here.
So what do you think, do I need a new fuel pump or just a filter, or is it something else entirely?
