We had a T100 for a while. With the bench seat it's a couch. Almost a full size truck, just not quite. 4Runners are much narrower for sure.

Speaking also as a 6'4" guy... I had to lengthen my seat rails 3" and install an inch of memory foam in my sport cloth seats. Now I really like them and can ride for hours without pain. I also have a base model without sunroof. Not sure how I'd fare with the ceiling being an inch closer to my head.

You bought the wrong vehicle. A 4Runner is a Tacoma SUV and like most Japanese vehicles of the time they are small. If you loved your T100 so much why don't you buy another one or a 1st gen Tundra? If you want a big, comfy, roomy, powerful late 90's early 2000's SUV with a huge gas tank buy a Chevy Tahoe

I think there's a few threads on here about what seats swap directly, but modifying brackets isn't too tough.

I've found threads full of questions and speculation, and a few with a complicated amount of work.

But no direct- swap ideas.

I'd do a swap but I don't want to mess with power seats. Just a simple manual seat swap from a known comfortable car.

As for "why the 4runner", one word... "Wife" She wanted an SUV and after going through all the options within our budget, this was it. We both made the poor assumption that it was substantially similar to the T (and it is, feels almost identical though as I think harder the center armrest was about twice as wide, had buckets in the T). There were no other options... well, rusted to pieces FJ40's and 60's, rusted to pieces Jeep Grand Wagoneers (the big woody sided ones) ~ but they weren't Really options.

This 4runner is essentially rust-free (well, might be some hiding under the spare), body is in the upper end of good, I know and like the 5VZ-FE ~ the Vehicle is fine, it's my preconceptions that are off.

Almost all of those problems seem like problems you could have discovered from sitting in the vehicle for five minutes. As for the tank range, consider yourself lucky getting 320 miles to a tank. I usually barely get 250.

Just fix it and drive it. Trust me. It's like a good prog rock album. First time you're like not bad but by the 10th listen you're like holy crap.

Right! Lol. I wish I could get that. But again, mine is also fully armored and lifted with bigger tires. Straight gas guzzler. !! Either way if I wanted a gas saver I’d drive a corolla or Prius.

Me ass-first? You come to a 4runner forum to complain about how you don't like yours and expect sympathy or something? Not very bright and I don't need the internet to hide behind to tell you. I would have no problem saying the same thing in person carry on Punkin and good luck.

Sorry dude, but you bought the wrong vehicle.

The keys, the stink, the odds and ends -- you can fix those. Hell even the gas tank you could address if you were motivated enough.

But you can't "fix" the size of the vehicle. I just bought a Gen-1 Tundra because I need a pickup. I would would rather have bought a Tacoma, but I couldn't find one in comparable shape at a comparable price. IMHO, the Tundra is too damn big... but that's just me. I'm 6' 1" and skinny -- the 4Runner fits me perfectly.

I'm married, so I understand if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. My wife and I always make big decisions together -- and buying a vehicle is a big decision. When we're shopping for a car for her, we discuss/debate, "Does it fit the budget... does it fit our needs... blah, blah, blah." But she's the one who has to live with it every day, so she has veto power. When we're shopping for a vehicle for me, I have veto power.

What I don't understand is, why is your wife determining what you drive?

As long as you get a vehicle that fits your budget, and fits your needs (ie: you don't get a standard cab pickup when you need to fit a family of 5) then get the vehicle you're comfortable in.

FYI: it sounds like you should have bought a Gen-1 Tundra.
