Am trying to decide what to do next; here's a rundown of what I know, and what I've had done.
What I know:
- vehicle has had oil changed every 3K up till 90K, and every 4K after that (it's now got 131K)
- ALL 'Owner's Manual Suggested Periodic Maintenance Intervals' have been done (as in, if the 90K service says to replace 34 parts, the previous owners did it)
- EVERY belt (to include timing) was replaced @ 90K whether it needed it or not, as well as the water pump, spark plugs, etc.
- just got tires rotated/balanced, and an alignment done
- transmission flush done (by Toyota dealership) at 90K
- throttle body/MAF were cleaned literally the day before I bought it (was throwing the MAF code - cleared by the cleaning)
What I've had done:
- brakes checked (fine)
- tires checked (plenty of tread)
- aux tranny cooler (B&M 70268) installed in series (for now)
- radiator checked, top and bottom - no sign of milkshake, tranny fluid came out clear
My immediate plans:
- get up under the 4Runner and 'flake off' the surfacile rust (have already checked with the proverbial fine tooth comb - nothing structural), and treat the undercarriage with some sort of protectant (any suggestions?)
- check (and replace if not already done) differential fluids, spark plugs and wires, and flush the radiator (being as none of this has been done since 90K that I'm aware of
- new head unit
- have the ball joints checked and replaced if need be
Any thoughts on this whole process - anything I'm missing? For 130K this 4Runner is cherry; and I'd like to stay on top of things to keep it that way for a long time to come.
