Suggestion for Cold Air Intake and Muffler -08 SR5 4runner

Hello I have a 08 SR5 4runner , is a 4.0L v6.
I have recently added Windows Vent, TRD Decals, and Tail Light Guard to my runner for sporty look but look is not enough, I wanted a performance upgrade.
I looking for a cold air intake and a muffler, i heard K&N have really good reputation and as for the muffler I'm looking at the Flowmaster 50 series suv.

TRD makes a cold air intake for the 4.0 V6, as well as AFE or K&N.

I would go with either the K&N or the AEM cold air intake. As for the muffler i would go flowmaster and i would hide it. I think 4runners look like s^&t with after market pipes, just my opinion

I heard k&n is really good but ill give aem a search see what reviews people give. As for the aftermarket pipes do you mean exhaust tip? I'm planning on getting the valor tip.

I run a K&N on my v8 and LOOOVE the sound. It's really deep and when you get on it, its sweet! :dancin:

I've had a few people stop me at the next light and ask me what I've done.

I dont have any exhaust though

Is there any cons about k&n? As far as the sound goes is it loud?

Performance Mods

I went with Borla dual exhaust and Volant CAI. Just before I made any purchases I was able to check out what others did and how they sound. I didn't want something that was going to set off car alarms in a parking garage, but I did want that V-8 growl to stand out. The split dual Borla gave me the growl and split the sound so its not loud inside my 4runner. I didn't like the sound from Magnaflow, and yes the Gibson has a drone to it. I would have to say if anything, get your exhaust picked out. I am very pleased with the look and sound of Borla, but yeah its expensive. With or without a CAI, its the exhaust that you will be hearing. If you don't like the way it sounds before the CAI, the CAI isn't going to change it. Its just going to be more aggressive.

I went with Volant for the CAI and I'm not as happy with it as I was with my choice on exhaust. Don't get me wrong, I love having it and I'd pick it again. I just think that with adding a CAI and exhaust, it was the exhaust that really was worth it.

You listened to all the exhausts. I had a Magnaflow exhuast but the drone was unbearable. I liked the performance (power and MPG)of the Maganflow, but the drone drove me crazy. I thought my teeth were going to fall out. If I were to get a borla system is the drone much less?

This is going to be like other people's opinions of movies. You can ask them what they thought, they will tell you it was awesome. You see the movie, and it turned out to be lame.

I love the sound of my 4runner. Most of it is due to the exhaust. I just spent 5 hours driving back from Vegas this weekend so I had some extended time listening to the sound. Loved it. I paid more for my exhaust and I think I got my money's worth.

The moral of the story is, see the movie and make your own opinions before you buy it. We might not have the same taste in movies.

I have the borla dual, and it has alot of droan. Wife hates it, so between her and the muffler there is way to much sound. I have taken the muffler off and put a 70 series flowmaster on. Sounds great and is better on the highway.

i have the borla, & in my opinion, all i hear is a sweet performance exhaust sound, no drone to me. but everybody's ear is different.if you notice, no matter what brand exhaust, there is going to be some that say it has a drone.
