Suggestions: help me find a 2nd 4runner (5-speed)

I'm looking for a 2nd 4runner. We already have a 99 sr5 4wd auto. I recently asked for advice on a dealer ad for a 99 sr5, which had a restored title, but everyone steered me away from it. I didn't even test drive it.

I want a 3rd gen 5-speed, preferably the 99-02 models.

I saw a new ad posted today on craigslist:

2000 Toyota 4runner 4WD Sport Edition

It's a 2000 sr5 4wd, 5 speed, sport edition with a hood scoop. Does the sport edition simply include the hood scoop and the wide fender flares? Seller said timing belt was done around 90xxx. It has 129k on it and he is asking $8700.

How do you go about an independent inspection with a private sale?

update:

I asked the seller about 4wd and he said he pretty much never used it. This kinda worries me as the owner's manual says 4wd needs to be engaged each month for about 10 miles to lubricate the axles. Is it a problem if he only used 2wd???? Thanks!
