Suggestions on high flow cat?

Not on a 4runner, but I've had/have/installed several. Only one has gone bad with "loose bricks", but that could be attributed to the copious volume of E85 run in that car.
I'd buy another for sure, especially considering the price vs. OE
 
I wouldn't trust anything but a magnaflow myself. SOme aftermarket ones don't do their jobs and result in a CEL.
 
I am running a Magnaflow 2.5" high flow catalytic converter.

I had magnaflow before and never had any issues.

I think summit sells them for about 100$.

Im thinking of buying one soon because my gas mileage is terrible compared to others.

Nothing. The only thing you'll benefit from swapping it is maybe better emissions due to a brand new, less used cat.

Only way that it will really provide you with better performance and MPG is to completely swap out the entire exhaust system (Headers, all piping, muffler) to a larger diameter (for example, 2.5") and change the catalytic converter accordingly for the same purpose. Any restriction in the exhaust system at all (smaller piping than the 2.5" catalytic converter) will render it's "high flow" characteristics pointless.

I have done the entire exhaust swap on my truck. The last thing I changed was the cat, so switching from stock cat to the 2.5" did actually produce a difference, in performance, MPG, and sound, though I also changed O2 sensors since everything was new anyway. I love going the extra mile.

You've also got to remember that you won't get full benefit of the exhaust if your intake system is stock. Changing to a cold air intake will help. Some suggest the deckplate mod (if you drive a V6, 2.7 airbox is not flat), though I personally dislike it. Your call.

Even then, you can even get (V6 only) the TRD O throttle body gasket, or a bored out intake manifold, but you wouldn't need that much air enhancement without forced induction and fuel modification.

Okay, that is what I was planning, should I do it all at once?

Really, you could take as long as you want, but to really feel any performance gains that are significant, the whole thing needs to be done. I got my headers in April 2008 and didn't finish the whole exhaust until Mid 2010.
 
Okay. I haven't looked into headers much but I'm thinking I'm going to do k&n cai magnaflow high flow cat and either a Borla of flomaster muffler and dump it after axel
 
Have u cut your tailpipe just past the axel yet ? If so, was there any negatives ? ie: exhaust fumes in the cab or a drone at highway speeds ?....

I'm going in To have a magnaflow exhaust and high flow cat installed and I was wanting to cut my tail pipe short and have I'd under the car, like u were going to do.

E85 for over 8 years on magnaflow cat. No issues. That don't include SS racing fuel lines that turned to mush. Now it runs NASCAR rated fuel line . Will find out in 8 more years if there corrode. Lol.
 
Do you have a model number for what's preferred for our 4Runners? (In 2.5") I was just out on their site and wasn't finding any high flow cats anymore.

I second this.

I did a custom intake from a time capsule with an amsoil dry filter because it's so dusty where I live.

The gains will really make a difference if you do a piggy back a/f tuner and upgrade your cams a little.

This might be asking the obvious here, but it's been a long time since I looked into Cats..... But with this High Flow, you didn't end up with any error codes or had to get that "simulator" (or whatever they called it on URD) to fix the code from the rear O2 sensor?
