Suggestions on high flow cat?

This might be asking the obvious here, but it's been a long time since I looked into Cats..... But with this High Flow, you didn't end up with any error codes or had to get that "simulator" (or whatever they called it on URD) to fix the code from the rear O2 sensor?

Found it here for 79.95, I'm going to order it.

I have no codes yet with this cat, I also run the same cats on my 06 GS430 without issue.

No need for a sensor port, the sensor is on the pipe quite far behind the cat.

To be clear, that is a 'universal' type cat and needs to be welded in to the existing pipe. It looks like this:

You can also get a 'direct fit' type that simply bolts in and includes the pipe with the (front) sensor port. The rear one is on the leading muffler pipe.

Hey [MENTION=7105]Scramble[/MENTION] since you're in NY check if your 4Runner has California (2 cats - first by the exhaust manifold and second before the muffler) or Federal (single cat) emissions.

According to Walker's website:

For model years 1993, 1994, or 1996 and newer, aftermarket replacement converters for California Emissions Certified vehicles licensed in the state of New York must, by law, be CARB-compliant. It is, however, still legal to use EPA-compliant converters in these two circumstances:

1.) Vehicle model year 1995, or vehicle models older than 1993; and
2.) Federal / EPA Only Emissions Certified vehicles, regardless of model year.

Dropping the Cats

Gents,

I realize this is an old thread, so I can only hope I can revive it...apparently I have the NY / CA exhaust setup: two cats near the manifold and another one neat the muffler. Can I drop the two cats near the manifold without decreasing performance due to lower back pressure? I assume I can, but am seeking some additional input prior to starting the project. I live in Alabama and will be moving to CO in a few years, so emissions testing shouldn't be an issue. I'm going to have some Doug Thorley headers installed which will be married to a Magna flow cat back and k&n air intake. Thanks in advance for your time!

Lower back pressure gives you more power and better gas mileage. Very low end tq can be lost but not noticeable. In CO emissions tests depend on county. Either way you would still pass since you will have cats. They don't care if aftermarket.

Magnaflow tends to be the go-to company. A high flow cat generally means less internal media.

I'm baffled by how many people struggle to spell "catalytic". High school chemistry stuff. Catalac, cadillac, cataract, cadalidic.
